Live in the Light of Your “Why”

A large part of the work of Salvation, accomplished through YESHUA the Christ, is restoring the broken heart.  Think of the heart as a lamp meant to burn the oil of life continually, to give off light and warmth. If your heart remains full of the oil of life, then the flame of your heart can keep your soul warm at all times and continually fend off darkness. Consider darkness feelings of confusion, despair, fear, doubt, hate, and other oppressive states of mind.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound…” (Isaiah 61:1 NKJV)

The word “brokenhearted” in this verse was translated from a Hebrew word used to indicate broken, shattered, or smashed. Obviously, anything in that condition can’t function as intended. Our heart was intended to hold the Spirit of GOD, also referred to as the anointing of GOD, often symbolized in scripture with the saturation of holy oil. The heart is so central to all we think and do. Here is what Proverb’s says about the heart.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 KJV)

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 Amp)

We must keep a vigilant watch over our hearts because it reveals so much about where we are. To move or act virtuously, you must first have your bearings on where you are in respect to life. This perspective comes from our heart. If we are focused intently on GOD, then He will fill our hearts and we will have the right perspective through His light.

“The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.” (Luke 11:34 KJV)

The eye in this verse is like a magnifying glass focused correctly on the sun which generates enough heat to ignite a fire. Once the fire is lit it illuminates everything. That is exactly what happens when we concentrate our focus on GOD. We catch fire and emit His glorious light.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty…Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:” (Psalm 104:1,4 KJV)

Over the past year, I have been blessed with time to focus on GOD without much distraction. It has been life changing. It has been life changing because it has been heart changing. The focused consecrating of my heart to GOD has brought much needed healing and restoration. I had allowed my career and some relationships to shift my focus slightly off my “why”. Believe me, even the slightest degrees matter when dealing with an intricate and highly sensitive apparatus like the heart. In regard to protecting your heart, we need to endeavor to have perfect focus on what matters most. Your “why” is your primary purpose for living. To keep your heart healthy, it is essential that you live in your “why”. Nothing sparks your heart like your “why”. If you do not know your “why” or lose sight of it, the fire of the heart goes out and darkness encroaches. As I mentioned earlier, life becomes dim with anxiety, fear, doubt, despair, frustration, and other oppressive emotions. If you have lost sight of your “why” or have never discovered it, I will share it now. We all have the same “why”. We were all created to intimately know YAHWEH, the source of ALL that is, was, and ever will be.

1Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”(2 Peter 2-4 NKJV)

From this day forward, let no one convince you of a greater purpose for living than knowing the Author of all life. Also, do not believe the lie that the Heavenly Father is unknowable. Everything in creation speaks of Him and leads to Him for the sake of discovering your life in Him. You were born for fellowship with the Almighty GOD. Isn’t that a beautiful truth! At the core of the cravings in your heart is a hunger to know GOD. Nothing else will satisfy. That is why the verse above speaks of escaping the corruption that is in the world through lust. People who do not understand the “why” of their heart are consumed with an insatiable hunger which produces inordinate lust leading to all sorts of greed, addiction, bondage, and corrupt behavior.

Christ our Lord came to earth proclaiming that He is the bread of life and the source of living water. He understands our deepest hunger and thirst. He came to answer every man’s “why” and to help them fulfill it.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 NKJV)

24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:24-25 NKJV)

Today Christ is still saving people through healing their hearts and reconciling them to GOD. Make sure you daily give your heart to Christ the Savior by focusing on the light of His words. This is the only way to protect your heart and ensure you stay on the path of true fulfillment. This is the only way to sustain your fire for life and to become free of darkness.
