Your Life Tracks Along Your Identity

Identity is the key to maintaining the narrow path of the spirit unto life. Merriam-Webster defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual; the condition of being the same with something described or asserted. For those who profess to be born again, that distinguishing character and something asserted that we are the same as is the Spirit of Christ leading us. The Spirit of Christ that is within us compelling us to the left or to the right, and to say this or that, or in short guiding us in what to do and say, has to be our focal point in order to live victoriously. By victoriously I mean made free through the cross of Christ to have life more abundantly through destroying the works of Satan. That is destroying the works of Satan in ourselves and in the world abroad. Identity is the key because our identity is based on what we identify with, and we identify with what we can understand and relate to. You cannot identify something you have no knowledge or perception of.

The visitation of GOD in the face of Christ has tied everything together in creation to help us identify with the message of the Father’s heart towards us. The message is simple: “You are my children whom I conceived to delight in, look and perceive how much I love you, so that you can delight in me and have Life.” This has been GOD’s message from the beginning, and with that the instructions on how to delight in Him and what to do in order to return to Him if you should stray. This repeating message has come to us again in the most identifiable way in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. Hear the Apostle John as he pleads with us to identify with the message of GOD the Father.

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (1 John 1:1-3 KJV)

He is saying that they are sharing these things with us that we might delight in GOD. This is important because if we do not delight in Him, then we will be consumed with the compensatory path of incontinence with carnal delights which lead to separation from the spiritual things of GOD, which results in darkness and death. Unfortunately, this is the path that millions have trudged, generation after generations which has left a very broad path to follow, and many still trudge that way. The Spirit of GOD is revealing to us His splendor and love through the scripture, through testimonies, through signs and wonders in creation, that we might seek to delight in Him. If we delight in Him after the Spirit, then we will seek Him down that narrow path of spiritual living and few there be that find that way.

Everyday we live, whether we get out of our bed or not, we travel from sunrise to sunset and journey through another day of this short life on earth. Whether the journey is on that popular and wide path of conformity towards darkness and death, or whether on the peculiar and narrow path of sanctification towards light and life, it is a result of the things we identify with and base our values and beliefs on. Ultimately, it is our identity which dictates our path. You and your path are inseparable, so the only way to a new path is a new you. That is why to enter the Kingdom of GOD you must be born again through the cross of Christ.
