Less Is So Much More

Christians need to stop saying they are not in a religion but in a relationship, as if they are mutually exclusive. That claim has been used as a means to cover carnality. Born again Christians are required to follow the same commandments that the people they refer to as religious are trying to follow, but the born again should do it more gloriously and for the right reasons.  True religion is a relationship with GOD through spiritual discipline. I know that cuts against the grain of what popular Christianity teaches and that is exactly why truth is called the sword of the Spirit. No one can have a relationship with GOD if they are walking in the flesh. By walking in the flesh I am referring to living according to the mandates of the carnal senses based on rationalizations of the emotions, feelings, and intellect.

²² You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:22-24 NKJV)

Those truly born of GOD are in the world but not of the world. As the world is striving to be more diverse the Spirit of GOD is calling us to be of one mind even as we have been called into obedience to one truth, and one Spirit. As the roads of the world gets wider the path of the believer narrows. The liberty of the Spirit is not expressed through widening of paths. The liberty of the Spirit refers to liberation from incontinence and the bondage of fleshly desires, so that we may worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.  Remember, he that loses his life will find it. While the world seeks to express themselves, we endeavor to express Christ. Don’t be deceived into thinking that the Lord will accept your carnality. You must be born again through the cross of self-denial, so that the life of the spirit can permeate you unto transformation and the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to know the ways of GOD and understand His sayings and commune through relationship. Don’t be one of those who go through life saying you are in relationship with Christ only to hear Him say, “I know you not.”
