Stay Focused On Christ

It is easy to be swept away into the cares of this world, since it is the focal point of this world’s governments and there are floods of information coming at us from media outlets reporting on these concerns. To maintain peace and soberness of mind and to remain in this world but not of this world, we must keep our affections fixed on the eternal things of GOD or we will find ourselves wading into the skirmishes and wars of those who are still cleaving to earthly treasures which are all temporal and shall pass away. These times can show you where your heart is, and it is ordained to do that so you can repent and turn your hearts completely toward the Kingdom of GOD and His righteousness.

Through the Spirit of Truth, that has in filled those born again into the Kingdom of GOD, we have a truly objective perspective when it comes to the contentions, strifes, and wars of this world. I should say that we should. I say this because as Christians, we are those who have accepted the New Covenant, ratified by the blood of Christ unto new identities and unto an eternal inheritance in the Kingdom of GOD. We don’t have a stake or interest in the temporal things of this world to bias us away from holding to the eternal truths of GOD. We should always be able to reflect what truly matters and those are the things which have eternal consequences and that are important to our King YESHUA HAMASHIACH, Christ the Savior and Lord. He has said, “What good is it if you gain the whole world, yet you lose your soul?” Your soul being the essence of who He created you to be.

As we look at the wars and conflicts of this present world consider this wisdom from the Spirit by the Apostle Peter.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. (2 Peter 3:9-16 NKJV)

As Christians, we cannot be of the unstable sort who are double minded and love this present world and also claim to love the Kingdom of GOD. The Spirit revealed through the Apostle John that all that is in this present world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, so why be influenced and swayed by these base and carnal motivations. We do need things of this world, but hasn’t the Lord said, “Take no thought, I already know what you need, and I will provide.” Those who faint in the watch are those who lose patience and stumble back into perdition because they took their eyes off the Lord and tripped over some earthly treasure that the Spirit empowers us to rise above. As the priest of GOD, we have no inheritance here in this world. Our inheritance is secure in GOD that our hearts may remain free to faithfully carry the treasures of GOD’s Kingdom, righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Keep it simple. All people have been commanded to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. The only true GOD is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These are one. Your neighbor is every person that lives on this earth with you, regardless of their religion, social status, or ethnic background, they are also one. How can this be? Because all people have been purchased by one blood, the precious blood of the lamb of GOD. All the inhabitants of the earth belong to GOD, and all of us will give account for how we have behaved toward what belongs to Him. Those who keep His commandments are righteous and those who do not are unrighteous. The Spirit of Christ empowers us to live in obedience to the Father. Stay spotless and stay blameless by staying focused on Christ.
