Secret of the Blooming Heart

One good way of determining if you are in right standing with GOD is by taking a measure of your gratefulness. If after counting your blessings, you are not grateful unto tears, there is something missing in your relationship with GOD. Somewhere, your heart feels slighted. If you consider GOD as your shepherd that that He watches over your life, and you are being slighted in your life, then inevitably He gets the blame, whether you realize it or not. It is inevitably why you justify your sin. The biggest sin is the disbelief which has led to the measure of ungratefulness. David’s testimony was, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” So, who is slighting you. Pause, and think about that.

One of the devils biggest works of deception is painting a picture of GOD that depicts him as being unconcerned about the trifles of your life. That is how Satan robbed Adam and Eve of the garden of Eden, and that is how Satan robbed a generation of Israelites of the promised land. What is Satan trying to steal from you today? If you are ungrateful and resent some aspect of your life right now, it is a sign that the wicked one has your ear, and you have justified some cause against GOD or you do not know GOD as you should. If today, the 23rd Psalm is not your testimony, I have to question how close you are to the Shepherd. I can’t question the Shepherd because He is always faithful and true and good.

Gratefulness and thanksgiving are each part of the same plant. Gratefulness is the bulb under the ground which produces the shoot that breaks out above the ground and blossoms toward heaven called thanksgiving. The bulb of gratefulness only germinates in the soil of humility.

There are times when we all may feel discouraged and heavy hearted, but it is our responsibility to make sure it doesn’t persist into the day. We have been charged to keep our hearts with all diligence, for out it flows the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

  1. Hey, I love what you wrote. I have never looked at discontent in this way. If you feel that your life is lacking and you seek other ways to make yourself feel content other than seeking and asking God for guidance and wisdom, then Satan does have your ear. You are now worshiping an idle God and not the Holy Trinity. I have been discontent in my life before. I have seeked solace in other things before. It never occurred to me that I was blaming God for what I lack. God is the giver of all things. A faithful person finds the blessings and or he seeks to understand God’s wisdom in all things given. This post serves as a challenge that I accept. I will seek to be thankful in all things given to me by God. I will also strive to be grateful to God for all that I have. If there is something that I feel is missing, I will pray to God for wisdom and understanding, while being patient for an answer to my prayer or understanding.

    1. That’s it! You get it. It finally hit home with me that the Lord came to me as a Shepherd because I didn’t know the way myself. I’m learning to see the journey in the context of the loving and merciful Shepherd, instead of how I feel about a particular place. The particular places I come to which bring me unrest present me with the opportunity to tear down the idols that question my GOD, that I might instead build altars to Him and lay down more of my life to be consumed by His cleansing fire unto new life, deeper devotion, greater trust, more peace and more joy.
