Beware of Being Buckled to Darkness in the Bible Belt

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. People who have spent much time around me hear me emphasize this a lot. It is because the understanding of GOD is hidden from those who have not bowed their own reasonings to the authoritative rule of GOD. In this present age it is really dangerous to lean toward your own understanding verses trusting the rule of GOD set forth in holy scripture. You can find validation for your own reasoning through many sources in this age of information and disinformation, no matter how twisted and corrupt the reasoning could be. Reasoning doesn’t have to be really demented to be dangerous. The impact of 1 degree projected over 5 or 10 years will put you so far off the mark that you will eventually be as distant from the standard of GOD as others you once considered way out there. When you think of billions of people deciding to live by their own personal standards it is easy to see why there is so much conflict, contention, and strife within the world.

Those who confess to be surrendered to the will of GOD through Christ should be living in glorious unity, but the vast majority of Christians are just as divided as the rest of the world, and it is for two main reasons.

1) They do not fear GOD.

2) They haven’t truly surrendered “all” on the cross.

Christ says if any men would follow Him, he must FIRST take up his cross. Many people in the church confess to having taken up the cross but there is still division present. It is because people interpret the application of GOD’s command to their own standards and reasoning. For most people, the “all” of the bible is interpreted to mean as much as they can comfortably give. GOD can never be glorified by people who confine His commands and plans to that which fits into their own reasonings and standards. A society of people can never enjoy enduring and sustainable unity as long as their own personal reasonings and standards rule their life.

The promised land for the Church lies on the other side of the cross. We have a desert to cross that will scorch our own standards and ideas to death, but the promise on the other side is the mind of Christ. Receiving the mind of GOD is inconceivable to man. That is why it takes faith to walk in obedience to GOD. Yeshua came to give sight to the blind, but if a person will not accept that only His truth brings light, then they will refuse His light and consequently remain in darkness.

39 Then Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment [to separate those who believe in Me from those who reject Me—to declare judgment on those who choose to be separated from God], so that the sightless would see, and those who see would become blind.” 40 Some Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and said to Him, “Are we also blind?” 41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind [to spiritual things], you would have no sin [and would not be blamed for your unbelief]; but since you claim to have [spiritual] sight, [you have no excuse so] your sin and guilt remain. (John 9:39-41)

Growing up in what is known as America’s bible belt has allowed me to see this stubborn and rebellious blindness firsthand. Some of the darkest sins have been enacted by people who profess to have the light and it is because not only are they blind but they resist the light in self-confidence. Not only do they sin but they justify and cement their sin with their own reasoning.

“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” (Proverbs 26:12 NKJV)

GOD gives grace to the humble, but He resist the proud. When the light comes to you, humble yourself and receive correction because it only comes by the grace of GOD. The man that proudly rejects the light of truth is like one that takes the seed he was given for the harvest to come and refuses to plant it, but instead chooses to cast this precious seed into the fire.
