How to Live in A Society Of Broken Hearts

This morning I was thinking about how heavy and obstructed our hearts can become from the disappointments of life on earth. From those that love us to those who despise us, everyone has mishandled us at one time or another. That does not even include the times we have let ourselves down in not being courageous enough to follow our own hearts, when feeling its compelling. With each new day, there is a need for abounding grace for us to forgive others and to forgive ourselves. An over inflated sense of self, through the mechanism selfish pride, often puts us at the center of everything. This causes us to be offended at things which are not even directed at us personally. We are often mishandled because those around us are inhibited by struggles of their own.
There is a strength in love which compels us to esteem others higher than ourselves, which finds reward in the act of giving to others without noting it inwardly as a loan. Love has the capacity to keeps us from being easily offended or angered, which allows us to live in humbleness of mind and meekness. This love comes from drinking from the well of GOD’s spirit. It is the overflow of what He is pouring into us from being in His presence being offered to those around us. May you experience GOD’s abundant love through Christ and your cup run over to bless others.

Life on earth is traumatic. Sin creates debt, and the hearts of everyone have been heavily taxed. There is a saying, “Hurt people, hurt others.” We have all been impacted at one time or another by the rejection, hate, envy, covetousness, strife, and contentions flowing from all the broken hearts around us. The lifestyles of extremism in the world today are a symptom of this brokenness. The failed attempts to self-medicate and to compensate for the wearied hearts are evident in the cries for more…more…more. Ecclesiastes 4:1-2:

“So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.”
