A friend sent me a video clip of a popular professional athlete stating that most people are fans in the game of life, but they need to get out of the stands and get in the game and leave their mark. Here is where the priestly calling after the order of Melchisedec jars me. A lot of people will look at this and say, “That’s right leave your mark and establish your legacy,” but this is where the royal priest of GOD stands out as peculiar. I am not living to make my own mark or to establish my legacy. I live to glorify Elohim and to leave arrows that point to Him. Paul said it well.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
Our commission is to lift up and glorify the Savior that men might be saved. His spirit is in us to glorify His name because He is the life of every man that will live. In pursuing earthly fame there is the temptation to deny Him who this world hates. Don’t be deceived, many that say they love Christ are actual anti-Christ.
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
The message of the video from the pro athlete seems harmless but so does the little leaven that leavens the whole lump. This narrow walk is not for everyone. It is only for those willing to take up their cross and deny themselves.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
The cross mortifies the assertions of the flesh that the will of the Spirit might be made manifest. As royal priest of YAHWEH, we live according to His verdicts, not our own judgments. You can’t live to leave your mark and at the same time live surrendered to the will of the Spirit which is given to glorify Christ alone? A double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. You can’t serve Christ and the values of this world because they are opposed. Many monuments and statues have been erected to people that have left their mark in this world but there is only one name by which man can be saved and enter life and it is YEHOSHUA Hamashiach, Christ our Savior. To quote the gospel group Commissioned, “Only what you do for Jesus Christ will last, everything else will fade.” History is all about His-story. All that vie for their own glory in this world inevitably persecute Christ. In a way, all of us have already left our mark on History.
