A manger is a trough used for feeding farm animals. YAHWEH has a way of showing us the end from the beginning. What type of a king is born and then laid in a manger? Yeshua proclaimed, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
What type of a king is born and then laid in a manger?…the kind of King whose purpose is to feed the nations of the earth… the kind of King that any one hungry or thirsty can approach and find help…the kind of King that eludes the proud and lofty but is found by those who are humble and broken…the kind of King that cannot be bribed with this world’s riches or comforts, because he came to make others rich and to bring comfort to others and because he knows that everything is already His…the kind of King that didn’t come to be exalted by men but has come to lift up the oppressed and down trodden…the kind of King that has eternal glory and does not need the fading glory of this world’s adornments…the kind of King that says things like:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)
“Ho, every one that thirst, come to the waters, and you who have no money; come, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your wages for that which does not satisfy? hearken diligently unto me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isaiah 55:1-3)
“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” (Isaiah 45:22-23)
What kind of King is this?
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever…”(Isaiah 9)
