This post is inspired by a song my daughter shared with me this morning. It is a song by Elevation Worship titled “More Than Able.” I thank the Holy Spirit for being faithful to provide context of truth around all things and revealing paths for life application. The life application of this song is waiting on the Lord, because He faithfully performs everything He promises.
We were born for GOD’s will. That can sound very limiting and not very self-fulfilling unless you know the character, nature, and will of GOD. In John chapter one it is explained that being born again is being reset to being born for GOD’s will, instead of living for the will of the flesh or the will of man. The relevance of this song is having faith to hold to GOD’s will regardless of how impossible or difficult things appear because all things are possible with GOD. Life is obtained and experienced in GOD’s will, so the fulfillment of life lies in our ability not to be moved from His will. Sarah reimagined GOD’s will and counseled Abraham to sleep with Hagar to produce His promise, however the divine messenger was clear that the promise would be birthed through Sarah herself. There has been strife between the seed of Hagar and the seed of promise for thousands of years even unto this day because Sarah doubted that all things are possible with YAHWEH. There are accounts all through the bible of self-inflicted harm born from acting in self-will instead of believing that GOD’s will was possible.
The faith that GOD can do what is impossible allows us to rest in His will. Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (Hebrews 4:1-3)
When things get difficult and seem impossible, do not lose heart. Don’t give way to vain imaginations or lies. Stay anchored in your hope in an all-powerful GOD that cannot lie, who is faithful and true. Faith comes by receiving the word of GOD, so fortify yourself with scripture like Psalm 27 from where excerpt below was taken.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! (Psalm 27:13-14)
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31)
