Christ came as “the Way” to save the lost. Only those who recognize they have no idea how to find their life value His guidance. It’s important that we get this. Christ didn’t come to save those who were a little confused or those who just needed to be pointed in the right direction. He came to give sight to the blind. If you think you can see and just have lost your bearings, then you are looking for a map to plot your own course. The person looking for a map will reject the gospel of Christ, because His appeal is for those who acknowledge their total dependence on Him to light every day and direct every step, so they can find their way to the next.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Christ says you must lose your life to save it. He is saying, you need to acknowledge to yourself that you are truly lost, for you will not truly accept Him as “the Way” until you do. To accept Christ as “the Way” means you will follow no other path. It means your eyes will stay fixed on Him to find your life, no matter how rough it gets or how long it takes, because you recognize that the only way to find your life is to keep following “the Way.” This is why Christ teaches that narrow is the gate and strict is the way that leads to life and few can find it.
This world is trying to sell you an idea of what life really is in order to have you spend the precious resource of your time running on a treadmill that powers its agenda but gets you nowhere. By nowhere, I mean no closer to the life you were born to inherit. Your connection to this earth is your flesh, so this present world system uses sensual stimulation to keep you from walking the spiritual path to life. This is why Christ also teaches you must deny your flesh to follow “the Way.” Resisting the demands of your flesh can be tough but you will do it to follow “the Way” if you truly believe. This is where our true values are tested. A person’s heart will always cleave to what they treasure. If you treasure the life offered by Christ, then you will cleave to “the Way.” If you treasure the pleasures of this world, then you will forsake “the Way” and follow a different path. Life is only found on one path.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.(John 14:6)
I am attaching another article which reinforces seeking “the Way” to life.
