Our DIY efforts at preserving our own life is like trying to sail the vessel of our life against the currents of this world by making our own wind and creating our own magnetic field and compass. At the age of around 19, I realized that this was a task too great for me and I tapped out. I say I tapped out for the first time at 19 because now I tap out every morning as I nail my burdens, my need for control, and any other DIY notions I have to the cross of surrender, to the cross of submission to my Savior, YESHUA the Christ. The Christian life is a constant tapping out to self-effort because YAHWEH has said, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit.” Releasing control of your life by trusting the Word of GOD to guide you to fulfillment can be scary and unsettling. That is why Christ says, “He that loses his life will find it and he that attempts to save his life shall lose it.” Learning to let go and let GOD takes courage and faith. I believe the witness of YAHWEH, in the face of Christ, has revealed more than sufficient love for us to assure our hearts of His sovereign good intent.
The fear that fetters us to the burden and failures of self-effort comes from not knowing our Heavenly Father as we should. He has given His heart through His word through out all ages by His prophets and angels but in these last days He himself has come; the Word wrapped in flesh. Christ was the heart of GOD walking amongst us, loving us with physical hands, speaking to us through breath from lungs like ours and forming words from lips like ours, and beholding us with eyes like ours, so that He could minimize the alienation produced between His most holy, beautiful, and righteous glory and the dark wickedness of man. If you will believe the testimony of Christ by faith and open your heart to this amazing love, you will find the assurance to lay your life in His hands and He will give you new life complete with a joy and peace that feeds you like a spring of living water gushing from within.
Out of all the possibilities of time and space, the fact that you are reading this now, as outlandish as it seems, is the providence of GOD. In the midst of all the darkness and conflicts and pain throughout history and in our world today there has also been the unfaltering love of our Heavenly Father. Shining light as a bright menorah on the table of a feast, bidding us to come and fill our souls with the Bread of Life. As many in the world celebrate Father’s Day this weekend, find your permanent seat at the table of the Heavenly Father and lay your burdens down at His invitation while is still being extended.
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV)
Here are a couple of teachings Christ gave regarding the invitation to the Father’s feast. Enjoy!
