The resurrection of Christ introduces the dawn of a new day for man. Christ is called the “last” Adam by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. This reference as the last Adam signifies the genesis of a new order of man, distinctly different from the first Adam. Whenever we ascribe the characteristics and traits of the old Adam to this new generation of man stemming from Christ, we are mistaking. When I speak of this new generation of man who are not born of the flesh but of the Spirit of GOD, who are born free from sin and endowed with power to walk and talk like Christ, people say that’s nonsense because they have never seen the likes of such a one. So, they argue that because they haven’t seen it, then it doesn’t exist. An argument on this basis would make sense if it came from those who do not profess to have faith in GOD, but it is such a contradiction when it comes from those who profess to walk by faith and not by sight. However, I understand that people who are double minded will often contradict themselves because they will sometimes reason from a carnal viewpoint and other times profess a spiritual viewpoint, depending on the circumstances.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8 NKJV)
Living by faith gives us the ability to trust GOD for things we have never seen before. That is why faith has been called the evidence of things not seen. Though you do not see it yet, your faith gives you the strength to act as if it is an eventual reality, so you anchor yourself in your hope and wait patiently for it with earnest expectation. In reference to the new life we are speaking of, the Christian should be looking only to Christ anyway. Christ is the one that was sown into the earth and raised again after three days. He alone is the seed sown from which all Christians should issue from. Our faith as Christians should hinge on the resurrected Christ, not any of the Apostles, or your pastor, or any bishop, or reverend doctor so and so, because there is only one mediator or go between for mankind and that is Christ our Lord (1 Timothy 2:5-6). So, what if an Apostle doesn’t receive the fulness of what Christ has offered, or your pastor, or any other person your have known, whose report are you going to believe? The same Lord of Host which told Joshua that he could take the land of Canaan is telling us today that we can overcome the sin in our soul to inherit the life of Christ. We do this by mortifying the lust of the flesh so that the Spirit of Love with in us can have free expression. This is what it means to daily apply the cross.
Christ ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit doing signs and wonders which no man had seen, and He was still called a sinner by carnal minded people. So, I am not moved when I hear people saying they have seen no one like Christ, because chances are they wouldn’t know Him if He were right in their faces, and I believe He often is.
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. (John 14:22-23 NKJV).
Whose report will you believe?
3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written:
“That You may be justified in Your words,
And may overcome when You are judged.” (Romans 3:3-4 NKJV)
The lack of faith and spirituality in man doesn’t change the legitimacy of anything that GOD has promised. Christ said you will know the truth and the truth will make you free, so don’t believe any liar that says you can’t be free from sin or the person you once were. Christ said the works that He has done we will do likewise, so don’t believe any liar that says you can’t be like Christ. Christ said the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth and show you things to come, so don’t believe any liar that says you can’t know The Truth or what tomorrow will bring.
A risen Savior was brought to us on a tomorrow many yesterdays’ ago, to assure us that future tomorrows would always be full of an abundance of new life. Trust the promises of GOD beyond what you see or have seen, because GOD desires to manifest something new through you. No matter what you see today, Christ bids us to be of good cheer because He has overcome, and all those who have faith in Him can share in His triumph.
