Be A Masterbuilder

In the Kingdom of GOD, everything is built of the same material. Everything consist of Faith, Love, and Obedience. All structures are put together by the spirit; not by might nor by power. These three make up the material that must be used for every weight-bearing structure in our lives. Every structure we plan to use as a support or shelter. This covers our belief systems and life philosophies. The Lord will build upon no other foundation. We are holy to GOD and our lives are an altar for Him.

“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5)

When you study the Old Testament, you find that YAHWEH was very particular when giving instructions on how He wanted His altar built.

“An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.  And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.” (Exodus 20:24-25)

Often, YAHWEH gives us material to work with that seems impossible to create what is needed. Then He will follow it up with instructions that are counter intuitive…Humble yourself and you will be exalted, lose your life and you will find it, give it away and you will have more than you need. When we try to modify the material or instructions He gives us to work with, so that it makes since to us, the result is that we weaken the integrity of the structure. Only what YAHWEH builds can last forever and is strong enough to weather the storms of this life.

Let’s break down the divine building material of Faith, Love, and Obedience.

Love- Love is the expressed will of GOD. The beauty of love opens our hearts to possibilities by inspiring hope, particularly the hope of good things. Love plants the seeds that grow into faith.

Faith- There is so much in life we don’t understand. So many things that are beyond our control. So many things that can’t be seen with the eye or felt with the senses. With all these things that are indefinite to our physical awareness, we still have to live and carry on from day-to-day. Faith gives subsistence to things that are otherwise inconceivable. This enables us to see possibilities when others see no reason to hope.

Obedience- This is the readiness to carry out the actions inspired and motivated by love. It is submission to the governance of love.

These three are the material that make up the divine stones that the children of GOD build with. Many of the structures we see in the world today have been fabricated from far inferior material than Love, Faith, and Obedience. We see structures made from fear, lust, hate, and pride. On the outside, these structures can be just as beautiful and impressive as those made of the heavenly stones. The difference is when the storms of life come, these earthly fabricated structures crumble. They are also like homes built with asbestos and lead; the contaminants they are made of leak death. These earthly fabricated structures cannot sustain life.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” (Matt 7:24-27)

“For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.”(1 Corinthians 3:9-14)

When you build based on the counsel and reasoning of man, this is inferior building material. Only the material made by YAHWEH is compliant with the building code of life. We must inspect all material we build with by the Word of YAHWEH. The bible says we are to try every spirit to see what sort it is; whether it be from GOD unto life, or from the deceiver unto death. We have to inspect ideas and counsel given to us to determine if it they can support life. We must see if they consist of the virtues of Love, and if they are founded in the faith and hope of GOD’s word. We must ask ourselves if the counsel or ideas violate obedience to GOD’s word. If the counsel or ideas fail this thorough inspection, we must reject it.

A key thing to remember is that your choice to obey surrenders your choice to choose what is good. What seems good does not equal the right thing to do. Remember, the just lives by faith, not by good reasoning. Therefore, we have to abide in the instruction of YAHWEH. “Trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” The paths of the Lord lead unto the way everlasting.

Embracing Truth Leads to Freedom

https://i0.wp.com/www.manataka.org/images/Eagle%20Soaring.jpg

Part of the strategy of the enemy is to deceive people into believing that the things we can see are more real than the things we cannot see. Until the microscope was invented, we could not see bacteria or other molecules but we have always experienced their effects. Likewise, there are spiritual things that we cannot see that have an influence on us, however we cannot see them. It is time out for dismissing spiritual things because they are not completely evident to carnal senses. Spiritual things matter most and should be the most compelling influence in our lives. Things that please us carnally can often have a strong influence over us, even to the level of swaying good judgment. That is why those that desire to follow Christ have to take up the cross and mortify their flesh. Christ, the good shepherd, as he leads us on the path to life will inevitably take us through terrains that afflict the flesh. If we have not already made the decision to die to the flesh, we will turn back or go to the wayside when the narrow paths of life starts to restrict the flesh. It is only through taking up the cross that we become eligible to really hear the words of Truth and except spiritual principles. That is what is meant by 2 Corinthians 2:14,

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

It is by design that certain things bring us pleasure. The Creator Yahweh made all things good and when they are enjoyed in adherence to His instruction they bring life. When we partake of creation in perversion, outside of His  commands, it tends toward death. 2nd Corinthians 4:16-18:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Spiritual things that have eternal repercussions and should always take precedence over temporal things. Pleasures enjoyed outside of an eternal perspective is the substance of regret. Be wise, be temperate, and be patient, to enjoy lasting fulfillment.

We have to cultivate a love for Truth to the degree that we despise anything that would obscure our view of it. This will put us on the path to freedom from self-deception, as well as strengthen us against deception from the wicked one. The Holy Spirit given by God the Father is a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. A sound mind is a mind that operates from the perspective of Truth. Truth is the word of God. If you are free enough to hear the virtue in what I am saying then take it and run with it!

Being Hard Core Requires Firm Decisions

The subject of the previous post “To Soar in the Spirit You Have to Be Hardcore” deals more with the preparation needed to effectively deal with the nature of sin rather than the subject of dealing with sin directly. A key part of aligning ourselves for deliverance from sin is making a firm decision on whether we are going to yield our bodies to serve sin or if we are going to yield our bodies to serve righteousness as discussed in Romans 6.  Yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit leads to righteousness and life, while yielding to the carnal nature leads to sin and death.

Before the Holy Spirit comes, we don’t even have the light to identify what carnal is because there is only the carnal nature and the carnal mind driving our actions. We do have a conscience that lets us know when we are treating someone in a lesser way than what we would like to be treated but that is fathoms below the heavenly ways of the spirit of Yahweh. When the Holy Spirit comes we are illuminated and understand when we are being compelled to be selfish, or lustful, or greedy, or spiteful or idolatrous. Once we are aware, we still have to make a decision on how we will respond. Remember, the spirit is subject to the prophet, we have to yield to the moving of the spirit. If we have not made a firm decision on whether we are done serving the flesh, we may choose to ignore the compelling of the spirit and satisfy the carnal appetite. When the scriptures speak of crucifying the flesh, it is speaking to exactly what Christ speaks of when he says, “If any man will be my disciple let him take up his cross and deny himself and follow me.” The crucifixion of the carnal man occurs anytime we deny ourselves the freedom to serve the flesh to obey the compelling of the spirit. As Yeshua mandated, to be His disciple, you have to give up your tendency to wander about and follow him only.  As followers of Christ, we choose to take up our cross daily which mindset is, I will look for and obey the compelling of the Spirit that Yahweh’s will is done and not my own.

Before the Spirit of Truth comes we are fettered to the lies and deceits about what we are and what we are capable of along with all the rejection and condemnation that comes with all of that, BUT after we are quickened by the spirit, we come to understand that we were created in the image of Yahweh and even as He is Holy we CAN be holy too, and even as He is Righteousness, we can be righteous also. We gain the ability to discern what is of the spirit and what is of the flesh. We then have a choice. Even though now we have the power to live spiritually and fulfill the law, we still have to choose to obey. If we have taken up our cross and the time comes, we do what is holy and righteous. If we have not taken up the cross and the time comes then we are double minded, meaning we may choose to serve our flesh sometimes we and we may do what we know to be right other times depending on the level of discomfort to the flesh.

To mortify the flesh means to subdue it or deaden it especially by abstinence or self-inflicted pain or discomfort (Merriam Webster).

1 Peter 4:1,

“Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.”

We have to be willing to suffer in the flesh for the reward of righteousness the way we suffered in the flesh to fulfill the lust and pride of carnal living. You have heard the expression that people will cut off their nose to spite their face, it comes from watching people endure pain and suffering out of spite or pride. Animals and people fight and endure pain for the chance to mate. Men fight wars for riches and land. People go on crash diets and workout hard to prepare their bodies for display on the beach. There are numerous examples of people subjecting themselves to sufferings willfully for causes that are fleshy. We just have to be honest with ourselves about what we really believe and were our allegiance really lies because Yahweh deals in spirit and in truth. People stand in awe of Yeshua for what He suffered but the glory and beauty really lies in why He suffered. He endured it all so that we could be set free and have an opportunity to have true life in abundance. He knew that some of us would still reject Him and not value the benefits that He purchased with His own flesh but he did it anyway. The suffering of the flesh that is required of us is just reasonable to sustain life, unity, and peace for our self and with our fellow man according to the Word.

To Soar In The Spirit You Have To Be Hard Core

Deuteronomy 7:2
“And when the Lord your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.”
These are the instructions given to the children of Israel right before going in to possess the promise land. Take a minute and get a feel for the uncompromising mindset that Yahweh commanded them to have as they went in to possess the land. Make no deals, show no mercy, and utterly destroy.
Joshua, Moses successor, was a foreshadow of our Christ. Jesus Christ and Joshua actually were called by the same name in Hebrew, Yeshua. Understand that Yeshua leading the children of Israel into the promised land of their inheritance is a direct correlation to Yoshua, the Christ, leading the redeemed church through the salvation of the soul. The children of Israel fought Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, Canaanites, and so on. We do battle with envy, greed, selfishness, lust, idolatry and so on. Though our enemies are somewhat different, we should have the same uncompromising approach when it comes to dealing with them. Make no deals, show no mercy, and utterly destroy.
Our Canaan land is our redeemed soul and our enemy is fleshly oriented living or carnal life. Carnal life is dominated by the pride of self-preservation and pleasure. When the Word or Yoshua, convicts us of a carnal habit or behavior then is our opportunity to side with Yoshua and go to battle against it to utterly destroy it. Don’t take a sympathetic approach when conviction comes, “show no mercy and make no deals” get rid of whatever it is. Today, many followers of Christ have taken a merciful approach to dealing with the enemies of the soul and that is why you can hardly make any distinction between those who are supposed to be born again and those who are dead in their sin. You seldom see the born again because few are willing to put the carnal man to death. The carnal man represents the man who was born from a carnal birth and was shaped by worldly orientation through being subject to the influences of a deceived and wicked world. The carnal man will be merciful to carnal living and would rather compromise with the enemies of the soul rather than destroy them. He is double minded, trying to serve the flesh and live spiritual at the same time.
The carnal man compromises with the flesh…the new man mortifies the flesh, for this reason the carnal man has to be destroyed before the enemies of the soul can be destroyed. That’s where the cross comes in.
We have to apply the cross to the carnal man with his carnal mind and carnal appetites. When we put the carnal to death then we are free to make a strong alliance with Yahweh unto victory over our enemies.
This is why the children of Israel that were born in Egypt had to first be eliminated out of the tribes before the promise land could be taken. They would have made alliances with the inhabitants of Canaan land and joined them in the very activities that brought the wrath and judgment of Yahweh. It took forty years for them to die out and for another generation to be made ready.
The carnal man has to be crucified because he is not going to do right. Only the new man of the spirit can enter the kingdom of Yahweh. That is why the scripture says we must be born again. YOU have to mortify and abase your carnal inclinations. YOU have to crucify the carnal man. Christ is not going to do this part for you; it is your reasonable service as it says in Romans 12:1.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
If this makes you feel a little heavy it is because you are looking back instead of ahead. You must be convinced that the one that made you can do a better job at fulfilling you than you can yourself. If you will surrender your life into the hands of the one that made you then He will perfect the work He started. Things work best when they operate according to their design. You were designed to live a spiritual life; it’s time to stop being ruled by the carnal man. The promise land of abundant life is yours for the taking.

Make no deals, show no mercy, and utterly destroy.
